Featuring stunning Christmas music from the 15th-Century to
the present day, Child of Grace is the latest Christmas release
from the internationally renowned Elektra Women's Choir.
This album brings together some of Elektra's favourite pieces
of Christmas repertoire in English: thirteen short sacred works—
nine outstanding and lyrical offerings by some of Canada's best
living composers and a further four from Norway, England, and
the US. The programme features a haunting setting of
contemporary American poet Luci Shaw’s “Mary’s Song” by
Knut Nystedt, beautiful a cappella singing in “Adam Lay
Ybounden” and two arrangements of “I Sing of A Maiden”,
as well as dramatic arrangements of traditional Christmas
favourites like “The Virgin Mary”, “The Huron Carol” and “I Saw
Three Ships” with guest instrumentalists.
